The Changing Landscape of Performance: Solo Practitioners Keeping History Alive Through a Pandemic

Online, 11:00am-12:00pm, June 7, 2022

Solo performers Sheryl Faye of Sheryl Faye Presents Historical Women and Michèle LaRue of Tales Well Told discuss their professional experiences during two years of isolation and regrouping. Sheryl Faye has performed historical one-woman shows for children and adults throughout the country for nearly twenty years. Michèle LaRue has toured nationally with her thirty one-woman performances from America’s Gilded Age and Progressive Era. Faced with a pandemic, both women learned to pivot and overcome unexpected challenges to continue connecting with audiences and providing history-based entertainment. Presenters will talk about changes made and insights gained in a new set of circumstances for performers of all types. A sampling of their work will enliven the discussion.
