Mass Cultural Council believes in the Power of Culture, including the positive impacts participating in arts and cultural events and activities can have on us. Since first launching our CultureRx: Social Prescription pilot program in 2020, we have measured how participation in the arts and creativity improves personal and community health and wellness.

This month, in partnership with the University of Florida Center for Arts and Medicine and Dr. Tasha Golden, we released a new resource, Arts on Prescription: A Field Guide for US Communities. This field guide offers a roadmap for communities to develop programs that integrate arts, culture, and nature resources into local health and social care systems. Käthe Swaback, who has been leading this work for Mass Cultural Council, shares more in a recent blog post.

We invite you to join us for a convening where we’ll further discuss Arts on Prescription. This convening will feature a keynote panel discussion with leaders who have been closely involved in this work. They’ll share insights and findings of how and why the creative and cultural sector is an essential partner in the fields of health and wellness.

This panel discussion will be moderated by CultureRx Program Manager Erik Holmgren, Ed.D. and expected speakers include:

  • Käthe Swaback, Program Officer, Mass Cultural Council
  • Vanessa Ford, Associate Director, Community Music School of Springfield
  • Jonathan Alicea, President & CEO, Latino Counseling Center
  • Staff representatives from Art Pharmacy
  • And more to be announced soon!

After the speaking program, all are welcome to visit a break-out room:
