Mass Cultural Council recently welcomed Lillian Lee and Greg Torrales as its newest staff members. Both Lillian and Greg have joined the Agency’s Cultural Investment Portfolio team as Program Officers.
Lillian was previously the Director of Grants and Campaigns & Accessibility Coordinator with Berkshire Theatre Group. She holds an MA in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College, and a BA in Theatre Arts from Fairmont State University in her home state of West Virginia.
A Miami-native, Greg relocated to Massachusetts in 2011 working first in Emerson College’s Office of Diversity & Inclusion before transitioning into MIT’s Office of Minority Education in 2013. Since 2014, he has also been the Administrator for Masacote, an Afro-Latin music and dance company based in Cambridge.
We asked Lillian and Greg “Five Quick Questions” so you can get to know each of them a little bit better.
Tell us which album you can listen to start to finish, over, and over again.
Lillian: The Broadway cast recording of Next to Normal
Greg: Pretty much any Fania All-Stars album from the 1960s and 1970s
What is your favorite season and why?
Lillian: I always feel like fall is a magical time, which might be because my favorite holiday is Halloween.
Greg: Summer because school’s out forever (or so said Alice Cooper)
Coffee or tea?
Lillian: Coffee!
Greg: Both (in separate mugs)
You can have that coffee or tea with one famous person and ask them anything. Who is it?
Lillian: I would love to sip coffee and do a deep dive into the theatre world with Dame Ellen Terry.
Greg: Any one of my ancestors
What is your favorite Massachusetts cultural organization to visit?
Lillian: The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
Greg: All Creative Youth Development organizations
Welcome to the team, Lillian and Greg!
