At Mass Cultural Council, we believe that festivals and public projects play a vital role in building community and celebrating the vibrant cultural landscape of the Commonwealth. This year, Mass Cultural Council proudly announced 740 recipients of FY23 Festivals & Projects grants, totaling $1,850,000.
The next grant round of Festivals & Projects will support projects, festivals, and/or activities that are publicly available between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024. These awards of $2,500* will support outdoor performances, art workshops, public art projects, pop-up markets, small capital projects, art and nature hikes, regional food festivals, cultural celebrations – and more – across the Commonwealth.
In the FY24 grant cycle, eligibility remains intentionally broad and includes:
- Federally recognized tribes, or Native American, Indigenous, or Urban Indian organizations
- Organizations incorporated in Massachusetts, including non-profit corporations, and for-profit corporations, partnerships, or limited liability companies (LLC)
- Massachusetts municipal entities such as Local Cultural Councils, public libraries, and recreational departments
- Unincorporated organizations with fiscal agents
Eligible projects must have a minimum of $2,500 in cash expenses, including the full cost of the project – there are no limits on overhead or indirect costs.
The application deadline is June 8, 2023. Program guidelines are now available. The online application opens April 25.
Register for an information session on April 27 (5pm) or May 3 (12pm). Office hours are also available.
