History is for Everyone
The 2024 Mass History Conference
– June 3, 2024

The nineteenth annual Mass History Conference, History is for Everyone, will bring together people from all walks of life to engage in historical practice and to champion inclusivity in our historical landscape. For millennia, history has been recorded through the lens of the privileged few – captured and controlled by the elite in private ivory towers. We now know that the best history work requires collective engagement, collaborative efforts, and diverse perspectives. This year’s conference will showcase stories about Massachusetts’ diverse communities and spotlight the projects and skills that give us models for telling these stories.

Join us to celebrate the multitude of voices that contribute to our history, and to share your own skills and struggles around implementing greater inclusivity in doing history. Whether you are experimenting with novel ways to document community narratives, hosting programs that resonate across diverse demographics, or facing challenges trying to meet your DEAI goals, we invite you to propose a session, because history is for everyone!

How can you participate in the 2024 Mass History Conference?

At this year’s conference we want to see what has inspired, challenged, or changed you in regard to your history work in Massachusetts. We know amazing work is being done all around the Commonwealth. Consider this year’s theme of History is for Everyone, especially through one of our three major tracks: History is for You, History is for Us, and History is for Everyone!

Have you planned a great activity that really connected to audiences? Have you changed up your social media work and are seeing new and exciting results? Have you partnered with new organizations and found a great way to reach new people? Have you expanded your archive to include new collections/oral histories? Taken on an accessibility project at your historic site? Think about what you, or another organization has done to make history accessible for everyone! We can’t wait to hear your ideas and learn from one another at this year’s conference.

Submit your ideas below!
