Mass Cultural Council welcomed Amy Chu and Thomas (Tom) Luongo as its newest staff members earlier this fall. Amy joins the Creative Youth Development team as Program Officer, and Tom is the Agency’s new Fiscal Information & Compliance Officer.
Amy worked previously as a Storytelling Fellow at Artists For Humanity and a Studio Assistant at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. She recently graduated from the Dual Degree program at Tufts University and School of Museum of Fine Arts, with a BA in Sociology and a BFA in Studio Art.
Tom is a longtime state and public agency employee who brings more than 25 years of experience in fiscal management for nonprofit organizations, government, and corporate entities to this new role within the Agency. Most recently, he was Finance Director for Community Action Programs Inter-City Inc. (CAPIC) in Chelsea.
We asked Amy and Tom “Five Quick Questions” so you can get to know each of them a little bit better.
Tell us which album you can listen to start to finish, over, and over again.
Amy: Lately I’ve had Laufey’s debut album, “Typical of Me” on repeat.
Tom: Gerry Rafferty’s “City to City”
What is your favorite season and why?
Amy: Winter, because getting cozy is much more fun than getting cool. I also love all holidays that I can use as an excuse to give gifts and eat a lot.
Tom: Summer, I love the heat.
Coffee or tea?
Amy: Jasmine tea
Tom: Coffee
You can have that coffee or tea with one famous person and ask them anything. Who is it?
Amy: Hands-down, Conan O’Brien
Tom: Former United States President Barack Obama
What is your favorite Massachusetts cultural organization to visit?
Amy: The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, which is right by my alma mater – the School of the Museum of Fine Arts!
Tom: The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Welcome to the team, Amy and Tom!
