Formed in 2000, Boston Irish Tourism Association promotes Irish cultural activities in Massachusetts and New England year round, as well as travel to Ireland. BITA works with more than 60 local organizations to present regional cultural activities, from parades and festivals to performing arts and literary activities. BITA also oversees Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail, a trail formed in 1994 to explore 300 years of Boston Irish history. In 2026 the trail is expanding to include new downtown and neighborhood sites and will eventually encompass the entire Commonwealth. In March 2026 BITA released a new Revolutionary Irish Trail, a selection of Boston and Cambridge landmarks celebrating the Irish and Scots-Irish role in the American Revolution. Plans are underway to add more sites in MA, NH, ME and beyond.
