Through grants, programs, and partnerships with nonprofits around the Bay State, Mass Humanities conducts and supports programs that use history, literature, philosophy, and the other humanities disciplines to create opportunities for the people of Massachusetts to transform their lives and build a more equitable commonwealth through the humanities.

Established in 1974 as the state-based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), Mass Humanities an independent programming and grant-making organization whose work is made possible by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Mass Cultural Council, and the generosity of its donors.
