MCR has been the leader in the collections management industry in New England since its founding in 1995, consulting with a broad range of public and private organizations both in the greater Boston area and around the country on project planning, management, and execution by providing trained museum professionals on a long- or short-term basis. Our team is made up of highly skilled professionals with formal academic training in addition to practical museum, collections management, archival, and curatorial experience. The staff is rigorously trained and supervised in research methodologies, the handling of objects and artifacts, and best practices. Our focus is the highest possible standards for collections care. We work both on-site and off-site, and our clients include small, volunteer-run historic houses to major museums, private collections, historic societies, libraries, universities, multi-national science centers, galleries, corporations, and private collectors. Our goals are always the same for every project: resolving chaos, completing the project on time and within budget, and providing training to the organization. Key services include storage planning, interpretive planning, historic site management planning, collection management policy and procedure development, registration assistance such as inventorying and cataloging, digitization, archive and artifact re-housing, and collection and museum moves. Past clients include the Martha’s Vineyard Museum; the Museum of African American History, Boston and Nantucket; the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate; Liberty Mutual Insurance Company; the MIT Museum; and the Cape Ann Museum.
