The North Reading Historical & Antiquarian Society is dedicated to the preservation of the history of North Reading through the purchase and maintenance of its historical properties, the collection and preservation of articles of antiquity relating to North Reading and to providing educational programs to the community.
The North Reading Historical & Antiquarian Society, Inc. began its existence as the North Reading Antiquarian Club about 1953. In 1963, the group incorporated as the North Reading Historical & Antiquarian Society. Application was made and granted to be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization for preservation and educational purposes.
The Historical Society is an ALL volunteer organization and has undertaken the restoration and supervision of several historic structures at NO cost to the taxpayers. Funds are raised by fairs, such as the Apple Festival, and the sale of merchandise (tee shirts, tote bags, mugs, afghans, jewelry, books, maps, CD’s, notecards, pewter key chains, magnets and Christmas ornaments, etc.) and generous donations from members, local businesses, and residents.
